Mills Bonus mech problem

Postby grapeman1 » Mon Dec 30, 2024 9:02 pm

If anyone is really familiar with the BONUS mech, I would like to speak to you. I am stumped and put many hours on trying to figure this one out and I cannot. The problem is that the lever that drops down on the bonus disk and advances the letter, well the little wheel does not go over the star disk to tell the machine to advance. I have two machines that have the same problem. On one machine, no letters will advance. On the other, only the O and N will not advance. The other letters work properly. I have done everything i can think of to solve. Spring tension etc If anyone is familiar with this mech, I sure would like to pick your brain. Im at a loss on this one....Ken Nerlove 707-363-1794 grapeman677@gmail.com

Hello Ken, I have some experience with the bonus "high top" mechanism. I posted a thread here in February 2015. Search "bonus calibration" for the post. Sounds like a timing issue. Also, sometimes on the rear of the bonus mechanism during the wind up cycle the square metal piece "nut" doesn't get properly positioned on the timing lever. Hope this helps.
