I am restoring an Evans Winter Book machine and have two issues. I do not know if they are related.

1)The payout actuator turns after every spin. Documentation and other owners tell me it should only spin after a winner.

2)When I have a winner, the payout does not match the "odds" of the winning horse. Machine does pay in right increments ie. 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30. Just doesn't match what is on the drum.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can be of no help for your issues but I really admire how clean your machine is.

Well, sometimes the simpliest answer is the solution. After days of tracing wires, tesking connections, and cleaning contacts, I took the drum out of the machine and was in the process of taking it apart when I accidently discovered that the sheet of odds that are wrapped around the drum was loose. It was not glued or taped to the drum. Could it have rotated around the drum over the years? Could it be that simple. Yes!!!! I set the No. 1 horse to win 30 coins and moved the sheet around until it matched the 30. (There is only 1 30 for each horse, so that is easiest way to determine the correct position.) PROBLEM SOLVED.

So, for future owners....if your odds start paying off incorrectly, check the sheet wrapped around the drum and make sure it has not moved....
