I am restoring a Mills QT Smoker that had the front casting stripped.
I know the color should be a brown with a textured or hammered finish.
Does anyone have experience with a Rustoleum color textured or hammered that would be a close match?
I have polished up the relief casting details, and am ready to start painting.

Rustolium hammer tone is a little trick to get it right. Practice first to see if you like first on scrap metal.

Did this one in regular rustolium paint.

I found the Rustoleum hammertone very tricky to work with. Sometimes I got no hammer effect. So, Practice then practice again until you are confident you have it controlled.

I agree with oldpinguy, I have used several colors of Hammered Finish paint and found the best results for me was to apply a light coat let dry, and then another light coat, I have had pretty good results. I would defiantly try on a practice piece of metal and apply a coat and see if the finish comes up to what you're looking for. Good luck.

I am curious what Rustoleum color you chose to repaint the Brown Front?
I am trying to decide on a brown for my Smoker.
I like the Rustoleum flat Brown, but I don't know if the casting itself will show enough texture.
I was thinking maybe do a texture paint underneath, then the flat Brown over that, then a satin clear?
How do I remove all of that from the relief design afterwards?
I was thinking a clean white t shirt with just a little lacquer thinner and my finger tip?
Tedious, but I want to do the best I can.

It was Rustoleum leather brown.
