Hello everyone,

I am overly meticulous when I disassemble a complex antique machine. I take hundreds of photo and never "forget" where a part came from. However, when I was taking apart this 25 cent Columbia slot machine I saw a small part fall from somewhere in the mechanism. I thought if would be easy to figure out where it came from . . . but I was wrong. After days of hunting, dismantling and scratching my head, I was flummoxed. The hole is threaded (10-32).

I would greatly appreciate any thoughts about the part below.

That is a "Lift Dog".

Visible from the rear on the handle side of mechanism,
Photo taken with machine at rest;
seeing it is easy; installing it may be a different story.
It has a spring on top (out of sight in photo) that is attached to the hook toward rear on its mounting bracket.

Now I have an area of the mechanism to concentrate on. I have found this part of the Groetchen more difficult to understand. I is not easy to see what is actually going on when the machine is running. I am very surprised that anyone would be able to identify the part at all. I get the feeling that you have been working on slot machine for I while. I have a lot to learn.

Hello again,
I continued to disassemble the Groetchen and found the following. I believe the "Lift Dog" you described was still there and in good shape. It freely rotates and the spring pulls it back into position. It also has a different shape than the "Mystery Part" which is threaded (10-32). My best guess is that this part was most likely fixed in place with an appropriate screw. I still remains a mystery. Any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Sorry to mislead you; I thought I recognized the part straight away and posted too hastily.
Upon closer examination, I don't recognize it, but be advised if you have a Columbia Standard machine, I do not have one with a jack pot mechanism to look at.

Please don't apologize, I really appreciate you thoughts. I will continue to investigate.
