Wooden Skids/Runners High Top

I have two Mills High Tops that are both missing the wooden skid/runners that go on the bottom of the base. What are the original dimensions of them? I would like to make a couple sets for these games.

I don't have one to get the dimensions but if it's like this one I would make them 3/8"x 3/4" and about 1/2" shorter than the depth of the base. That way they are about 1/4" back from the edge of the base.

The set I have is 1 1/4 wide, 1/2 thick, and 14 1/2 long. Front setback from the base is 1/2 on my Hightop and same on a Gooseneck base. Made of Oak.

I really could only find one with strips on it. It appears everyone takes them off because they don't like them. I have a different brand TS that had rubber feet on it when made. Since they had an oddball method of installing the feet I just covered the bottom of the machine with felt.

Yeah, it seems that they either fall off easily or removed on purpose. I personally feel that they do help a bit with prevention of the base from warping and splitting when securely fastened. But, that's just my 2ยข.

I have some in oak that were made by a woodworker (ex father-in-law) 30 years ago from a Mills original I gave him. Nicely done, unfinished, with the proper curve and countersunk screw holes. If interested you could have the set for $15 + $10 Priority shipping. PM and I'll send my info. I no longer restore full size slots---just QTs and Little Dukes. Robert
