Pace no-win payout

Postby Phan000 » Sun Jul 10, 2022 2:26 pm

Working on an old pace mechanical.

Got the reels spinning & stopping correctly, and the slides are all cleaned and moving well.

Machine is paying 3 coins for wins that are not on the card.

Most of these non wins are on the left reel. I thought maybe the reel strip had slipped, but this does not explain why it is winning so often. Every 2 or three spins triggers the 3 coin win.

Any clues to what would cause this?

Thanks!

I would suggest checking the spring for the bottom slide (not the safety slide), as well as how that bottom slide lines up with the lower payout finger. The lower payout finger spring may have come off, or the lower payout finger isn't contacting the bottom slide, causing excessive payouts.

Phan000,

When your "random pays" happen on the left reel are they the same symbol? I just worked on an open front conversion Pace that did the same type of thing. It would pay 3 coins on an "orange" the left reel (first reel). The same as a single Cherry. I checked the pay disc and there were two single Cherry pay slot/holes but, only one Cherry symbol on the reel strip. So, I needed to plug the extra pay hole on the disc to fix it.

Turns out it was a weak spring.

The rebound froM the top fingers indexing the reels caused the 3 coin lever to bounce out, intermittently.

Thanks for the advice, and definitely to Tim Jim.

Great lesson learned!
