Mills escalator and action fork compatibility

Is there a specific penny escalator or can a nickel or dime be modified? I've been searching for penny slot specific parts but are extremely hard to find.

Are the action forks universal between the 25, 10, 5, 1 cent machines?

As far as the coin chute, I don't have one for the penny machine... could I use a nickel chute and slide top cover or modify them to work?
