Alignment of mech on base plate

Dealing with a funky issue with a 10c Castle Front that I think is due to the base plate (and thus the mech) not aligned properly from front to back.

If I have the mech too far forward, when the jackpot trips, it doesn't open all the way and coins get stuck in it.

If it's too far backward, the jackpot empties properly but the reserve gets tripped after a payout of 14 or more, not only after a jackpot. (watching inside, the reserve trip lever drops after the 14 coin payout, so on the next pull, it empties the reserve)

Any tips on how to troubleshoot this?

Sounds like you need to do trial and error to get the right positioning of the mechanism into the cabinet so you won't get a payout malfunction. However, there's usually a metal 'stop' on each side of the cabinet baseplate that keeps the mechanism from going too far forward - see if they have been removed or if you can add a metal piece to function as a stop. Also, some mechanisms are bolted into the cabinet base plate to keep them from sliding around. I've seen those bolts used by putting the bolt through a hole in the the back of the mechanism into one of the holes in the baseplate.

Hello,Base plate has built in forward and aft stops, I would confirm you have corrected the missing jackpot spring, jackpot chute bracket, and bent lever issues from your previous post. The mechanism has 2 hold down screws 1/4 x 20 x 1" long, one on left facing down and one on right under the base plate face up.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU MAY BE MISSING THE MECH STOPS ON THE SUB BASE? THEY SHOULD BE ON EITHER FRONT SIDE OF THE SUB BASE ATTACHED TO THE 1/4-20 BOLTS HOLD THE BASE.
