Bally Golden Nugget - Repair Advice

The coin went into the hopper.
The handle would not engage
the buzzing or humming is very low. It’s not loud.
I heard a clicking noise as the coin was inserted

IT MAY BE SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS PUSHING THE RESET BAR BACK. THATSD THE BAR UNSER THE HOPPER, JUST TO THE LEFT. IF YOU HIT A BIG WINNER AND IT DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH COINS IT LOCKED OUT. BE SURE HOPPER HAS COINS AND ITS BACK IN THE CABINET BEFORE PUSHING THE BAR IN.

Looking at his pictures in his first post his machine doesn’t have the reset bar. He would need to pull out the hopper to access the reset button. However wouldn’t the machine be dead if the reset breaker tripped? I’ve only had this happen on one Bally that is an 873 and it shut down everything. No lights no nothing. I’m just a hobbyist learning as I go. Please correct me if I’m wrong. Only way I get to learn.

Ok I sounds like you pushed in the white reset button and nothing happen, So let check the 3 fuses in attached picture to see if one is bad. Just push it down and twist and see if the small wire is broken in one of the fuses. Post when your response when you can but in the meantime instead of dropping in a coin you can power machine and up open the door and push down the coin switch to see if it releases the handle release coil. I have included some helpful pictures and information so you can arm yourself with some EM knowledge to learn the basics.

Your machine model (742A) with serial number-361 was originally a .025 cent 3 BAR anyway slot from the Silver Spur casino in Reno Nevada and was recycled at some point to a Kit machine after the casino got bought out in the late 1980 which changed the top awards glass and belly glass to your 777 Golden Nugget configuration.

You guys are amazing, I can't believe how nice and helpful you have been. I'll run through this with my dad tomorrow and Monday I'll be there in person.

So we spent about 2 hours playing with it and after replacing a fuse, finding the jackpot reset bar, and troubleshooting a stuck handle...... WE DID IT!!! Thank you guys so much for all the tips, we would have never had a chance if it weren't for the images of the manual and tips provided here.
