Looking for Information on an old Pace slot machine

Postby ShutterbugTN » Sun Aug 17, 2025 1:50 pm

We recently purchased this Pace slot machine -- it looks SO similar to one my grandpa had in the basement when I was a kid so we immediately liked it. It works pretty well, except it is missing the Jackpot interior parts and the cross portions of the window for the jackpot. We also would like to know how it looked originally (the painted areas), the actual name of this model and the approximate date of manufacture. Thank you for anyone that can point us in the right direction!

Very nice; you have a Jennings Operators' Bell from the early 1920s. Jackpots became popular later, so it was "revamped' to add the Pace JP front c. 1929.

It appears someone cut the JP window grid/cross bars out, possibly to increase the visibility of coins in the JP, making it more attractive to players.
I would leave that alone since it's part of the machine's history and you have bigger issues to attend to.

I don't have any JP parts, but others here might have what you need; you should post a picture of the inside showing the back of the front casting to see what all you need.

Also, it appears the top casting is not installed correctly; the JP front is flush with the wood front straight across the bottom, but the top casting does not sit on the JP front as it should; flush straight across.

Enjoy it; tinkering on a 100 year old machine is part of the fun of having it.

May be impossible to find jackpot parts. I’be been looking for awhile with no luck. Don’t even know how the jackpot parts would engage and close the jackpot door. I would just get it to payout and if someone hits jackpot just pay them with a roll of nickels. :D

Check with Steve Squires. His website is quirky but his phone number is on there.
