Mills gooseneck coin drop info needed

I have a’29 Poinsettia. It works perfectly
However, below the coin detector should there always be some sort of coin holding device to allow them to be viewed in the window? At present as soon as the coin is played it drops instantly a couple of inches or so into the tube
There is nothing visibly missing from mine so is that just the way it was?

Can anyone help me with pictures or parts please ?

Yes, there's usually a magnifier window ("Bullseye") below the coin acceptor. Here's a photo from page 62 of the Mead and Geddes book Slot Machines on Parade. That allowed the Operator to ensure slugs weren't being used to play the slot.

When a coin is inserted and put in play, the coin detection pin senses that a coin is played, the coin advance lever pushes the coin down and pushes the previously played coin down from the view area in to the coin tube, jack pot or cash box, the coin is held there by a small lever with slight spring tension just enough to keep that coin in the view position, there is a second check detection pin that senses wether a coin or check was used to play the slot. You will need to take the goose neck off and apart, most likely that lever is gummed up or that spring may be broken or missing, that spring is very small be care full not to loose it, not easy to source one.

I did not explain the operation of the gooseneck clearly on my reply, there is more to the proper operation of a gooseneck coin advance than what I previously mentioned, I took some pictures of a gooseneck that I have, besides the coin return the rest of the coin head is the same, there are two coins held in the view area plus the one coin played, as the coin travels down there are two levers on the left side, the top one holds the coin played in place till the coin advance arm pushes it down, the lower lever holds the two coins previously played in the view position, when the coin advance pushes the played coin down that coin pushes down on the previously played coin and the coins push that lower lever over letting the bottom coin to drop, the two levers on the rear of the coins is a anti cheat, they keep the coins from being pulled out, the lever above the coin advance bar will hold a extra played coin from jamming till the coin in play is pushed down, I think the pictures on this link are better on understanding the operation of the gooseneck.

No problem, looks like you are missing a few parts, not hard to find they come up for sale quite a bit on ebay, you may find a complete gooseneck, looking at your pictures looks like you have a 20 stop meh, never seen a poinsettia 20 stop before, interesting, what is the history of your slot if you know?

Wrong reels in the picture, correct ones are back in it now.
