The eBay listing also stated that there was a protective plastic over the plate, which was left in place for the benefit of the purchaser. My DICE has one of Jack's reproductions on it; I called him to ask about that plastic, which I couldn't get off of the metal no matter what tool or solvent I applied to the task... he told me it simply couldn't be removed! I decided it looked fine as-is, and still admire his fine work regardless. I had enjoyed so many phone conversations with Jack over several years that I really miss him now, but still feel lucky that I had the opportunity to benefit from his service to the hobby while that was possible.
