A 1961 Pace dime machine, a broken key and more.

This is a lock and a slot subject but I combined them, for fun.
Monti gave me some good info on how these machines got the way they did but I thought I'd post a picture of it for all to see.
It's in very clean condition but clearly some significant things were done to this machine. It seems like it was in this "Eddies fabulous 50's" place as late as the 80's and I'm curious if it was in this condition... just mechanical, no lights etc mounted on the larger cabinet as Monti explained to me. I'd like to find out more about that casino. I'm wondering if they just revamped these old 60's machines just as a novelty but as functioning slots? At some point in time though, a place called "Ancient Slots" acquired it and must have added the smaller box to mount it on.
My other issue is, like an idiot, I accidentally snapped off the head of the nice Illinois lock co DUO lock on this. The key will still work using the head to turn it once the key part is in. There's no number on the key unfortunately. So far the locksmiths here in So Cal are a bunch of morons (ok not all!) and some don't even know about these type of locks.
Can ANYONE out here make a copy from my key pieces?
I'll add a couple more pictures when I get home.

Hello Again Mark!
Just to clarify your comment on what we had spoke about more than likely this slot had some sort of lighting on the door to illuminate the glass and possibly the reels, either a fluorescent tube or a group of bayonet bulbs and may even have had a candle and jackpot bell but yes, it would have been mounted on a cabinet with other slot machines in a row or called a "bank" of slot machines where the slot sat directly on the cabinet with a bucket underneath that collected the casinos "Take" from the slot machine as well as a money bowl in the cabinet top directly in front of the slot for the players winnings!
The base you have was made when it went into home usage and the lights and candle were probably pulled at that time as well!
As for "Ancient Slots" which was located in Las Vegas, I believe they went out of business in the late 90's as Tom Krahl bought all their left over existing parts about that time, I believe!
Eddie's Fabulous 50's was a themed casino of, yes, you guessed it, The 50's which was located at 211 North Virginia Street in Reno in the late 80's and early 90's and was previously The Money Tree Casino!
Bona Fortuna on getting a DUO key cut! LOL

Be interesting to see what he says as I have had no luck over the years with Duo locks other than my having locks with no keys and keys with no locks and then taking keys that at least fit the lock and then re-keying the locks!
As those keys have three serratures as in the photo below I have always passed on my continued search for blanks as cutting them would be next to impossible without the special key cutter!

SUCCESS!
I found an very reputable, established locksmith here in Costa Mesa. I brought the two parts of the key and the lock. They actually had the blanks in stock. He had never seen a key quite like that though with the middle "notches." He cut the key and then chiseled out the points in the center. After two tries, the new key worked perfectly!

Now that I can open and close the darn door, I though I'd post more questions for Monti. Well he seems to be the only one on this forum I've noticed! :P
I have questions...
1. Is it likely my machine started out at Harveys? It sure looks like one, but there's no light on top. I'll have to look closer and see if there's any marking on the inside. The top is clean.
2. Where the lock latch goes up in the machine, there's remnants of some kind of contact plate with two painted over wires, that go down in the machine and are just cut. Would that have been connected to a "door open" light somewhere else? (RED circle in photo)
3. The arm makes contact with a lever to actuate the reels... (YELLOW circle in photo) that lever (or whatever it's called) looks crude, like it was cut. Is this just how Pace made them?
4. The picture of the door inside shows come crude weld marks on the center reel line and at the top of the escalator window. Weird looking. Did Pace (or maybe Ancient slots) just piece together some units with parts? I know that's common anyway though.

As you know Mark, I do not spend a lot of time on the computer or Forums as my days are rather filled with shop work but I will try to address your questions here within the body of your text post below! MONTI

1. Is it likely my machine started out at Harveys? It sure looks like one, but there's no light on top. I'll have to look closer and see if there's any marking on the inside. The top is clean.
Many casinos had these style Open Front slot machines using Pace mechanisms and I believe Ancient Slots had a Northern Nevada location besides the one in Las Vegas so yes it is very possible that this was original from Harvey's as after the ransom bombing at Harvey's in 1980 as the casino lost structural integrity, Etc. the Pace slot machines as well as other slot models in the casino were sold off! As to the light on top, some of the slot rows in the old Harvey's had two lights per slot machine bank on a tall post that would flash either for a jackpot being a colored lens or for a change attendant being a white lens so possibly it never had its on "Candle" per say!
2. Where the lock latch goes up in the machine, there's remnants of some kind of contact plate with two painted over wires, that go down in the machine and are just cut. Would that have been connected to a "door open" light somewhere else? (RED circle in photo)
Very possible to have a "Security" door open switch that would have connected to the White Change light that would flash to grab the attention of a Floorman or Security!
3. The arm makes contact with a lever to actuate the reels... (YELLOW circle in photo) that lever (or whatever it's called) looks crude, like it was cut. Is this just how Pace made them?
These handle adjustments were made usually by the slot shop in the casinos for proper interaction with the mechanism and you will also notice that the base plate under the mechanism can be adjusted up and down as well so the mech interacts properly with the handle! It looks crude as rectangular box cut tubing was used at the point mentioned!
4. The picture of the door inside shows come crude weld marks on the center reel line and at the top of the escalator window. Weird looking. Did Pace (or maybe Ancient slots) just piece together some units with parts? I know that's common anyway though.

This heavy wire marking the payline was either broken off and needed replacing or this was done on installing the wire to designate the center payline and who knows when the repair took place to the round metal glass frame for holding the escalator viewing glass!

OK it took me a few days and I see more comments were posted since. Here's what I got. Duo keys are still made with the stamped blank at North East Lock Corp. 1-800-524-2575. Clifton NJ. The open front Pace pics are the same as the ones I was involved with back in 83. We trucked in over 700 open fronts and converted them to 25C by grinding off the numbers on the coin head and sweat soldering the new denom to the front. We had Mapes, Harveys ,Harolds and Harrahs club Pace machines. The project included cutting back to back machines as well as the piggy backs. After converting them they were all shipped to Maryland, where they went from there who knows.

Mechanic!
You probably knew "The Boys" from Nevada Novelty then, right? Lou Bennetti and the "Crew"?
Were you using the nylon slide sets then when you converted them?
Just curious!
