ID’ing Real Tavern Slot?

Postby NutHouse » Mon Jul 06, 2020 11:53 am

Hi y’all. I have the chance to purchase a Tavern slot machine. The first place I came was here, to see what y’all had to say. And dayumn y’all had a lot to say!!! It seems that this is a machine that has been often faked.

The machine I’m looking at has three vertical stripe things to the right of the award card (the side with the arm). They are mostly missing paint, except for faded red/orange in the middle one. The name-plate at the top has very faint traces ( very little) of a reddish paint. The award card lists three Lucky Strike packs at the top. There is no back, and the reels have Lucky Stripes glued on. It does not work.

This all seems right to me, judging from what I have read on here from a gentleman named Bill on the fakes page. But I’m still a little nervous? Is there anything else I should be looking for? I can’t even find good pictures online of an authentic original to compare it to.

Help please?

https://www.icollector.com/item.aspx?i=8652610 2099, sold for $650, plus push.

I found this picture online, but the one I’m looking at doesn’t have all the “spider web” looking lines on the sides. It just has an eagle, bell and a ribbon thing,

Ooh found a video of a guy selling one that he restored. It has sides like the one I’m looking at. I’m feeling hopeful!

If you do purchase this trade stimulator you should contact Jerry Fluegel for reel strips and/or repair and restoration tips. The biggest issue is the missing back door as they are nearly impossible to find. (Severely impacts value)

Hi, and thanks! I’m just worried about paying too much if it’s a fake. Do the details sound as though it could be real? What do the real strips look like in an original one? I can’t find pictures of those online.

I definitely would want to get it working, and I appreciate the referral. Sometimes it’s hard to know who to turn to for help when there could be unethical people offering.

I didn’t get a lot of feedback before I purchased the Tavern, but I took the plunge anyway! If it’s a fake, it’s not the first time I’ve wasted money; if it’s real, then I am pleased.

Any opinions on authenticity? I do know that it is missing the bubblegum chute (and the back, of course), and I have someone lined up to replace that.

Thank you! I was sweating it!! Any chance do you know a value range for a nonworking, non-restored machine? That’s the only other thing I’m sweating right now :dontknow:
