Does this mechanism look original to the case serial #10027.
I understand many were switched.

Thanks Denny

My understand was MANY were switched out. But by the looks of the chrome wear on the coin slide of your machine, it might be original. I have one VP with the original s/n sticker on the inside and it doesn't match the case plate s/n, but it's close. It appears you have an original lock as well, although I've never seen a key number written on the back door though.

A lot of the vest pockets I saw that had the fan stopper had serial numbers in the twenties or higher and a cut out notch at the upper left corner in the front of the mech. I hope mine is original to the case.

The #40 on the case and key tells me a business probably a casino bought a bunch of VP machines.

Bought from a goodwill store in Denver off eBay years ago.

Here's one of my VP's and the only one with the original s/n on the back, along with the number from the bottom plate. It's close!

Nice.
I have a question for you. Can the brass elevator on a 5 cent VP work on a 1 cent VP?

I'm not sure. I'm headed home later and I'll take a look at one of my parts machines. In the meantime, I'll contact member 63mini. He may know right now since he's also rebuilt one or two.

(I'm going to flag this so the moderator will split the topic at this point, since this will also be good information for the future :D)
