It was made by a company called Bollands, in the 50's.
They took old 20's & 30's Mills bandits & put the mechs in new cases. Some, like this one were converted into single reelers.

Not a trade stimulator; it's a payout slot machine.

Fred Bolland ceased production during the war, but resumed afterward.
According to Baudot, The Film Stars came out in 1948; the picture and reel were updated during production and some models include John Wayne.

Thanks for the info!! Thought it was unique, but there’s always somebody on this group who’s seen or knows about every machine. So much knowledge here.

The seller asking $850CND (approx $650US) if anyone interested.

LOL: I feel bad for William; before there was Archie Bunker, there was The Life of Riley; I remember the whole family enjoying it together.

How the stars are ranked in the payout schedule and which ones pay nothing is a small social commentary from back in the day (from an English point of view);
I'm surprised Clark Gable is low on the payout schedule.
It would be interesting to see how they shifted rankings over the production run.

Up in the shadows of the reel window, we can barely perceive yet another disrespected, no-payout legend: George Raft. I'd really like to see that little faux pas rectified, George-Raft-Style:
