On the inside works is there a spring that hooks where I have indicated with the screw driver that pulls the lever down.
When I pull down manually it works. What makes it work? Is a spring missing? Can you help. The top screw drivers indicates that something attaches.

Yes there should be a small diameter spring that is attached between the top and bottom screw driver locations. The spring is appx. 1' long.
