Are you a member of the Vintage Slot Machine Web Ring?

Hey guys, I am wondering if any of you are members of the Vintage Slot Machine Web Ring.

If so, I would be curious to see if it directs any traffic to your web site.

The reason I ask, is that I put www.AntiqueSlotMachinePriceGuide.com into the ring many months ago.

I was analyzing my web statistics and saw zero referrals from it.

I then went to the web ring and see that he delisted the site. However, he never had the courtesy to notify me, so while my site was directing traffic to his and helping him out in the search engine listings, his site was doing nothing for me.

In addition, I tried to contact him via his email in the web ring and the email is no longer valid. I finally found an email that worked.

Once I got ahold of him he said the site was delisted because he didn't like where the web ring information was in on the web page so he delisted it. I had it in the main information frame (the one that most people look at when they are at the site) but he didn't like it there.

The following is directly from the Q & A on his site:
Q) Can I put the logo where I like on my web site?
A) Yes you can within reason, but it makes sense to put it on your home page. Visitors to your site from the Ring would expect to be directed to your home page.

He said he checked his web logs and not a single person ever clicked on the link that was on my page. I know this is false because I clicked on the link to test it and have also clicked on it several times on several different computers.

When I pointed this out he got really nasty.

So, I have just removed his link from the AntiqueSlotMachinePriceGuide.com web site.

If you go to the web ring you will see that not all sites are listed at once. They are broken into two separate pages. You should realize that by doing this will limit the effectiveness of having your site in the ring because the search engines will only see it 50% of the time. However, your link to the web ring, since it is always there will always help out his search engine ranking.

So, I am curious if it ever really helped get traffic to your site. I have my doubts but would like to knoow.

If you have a link to his site you might also want to make sure your link is still active since this guy appears to delist sites and not bother to notify the owner of the delisted site.
