Jennings Little Duke

I was wondering about the coin head on the Jennings Little Duke slot machine. I have see two different styles (at least on the penny version).

One has a small slot on the right side on the top of the machine, the other has a casting that wraps from the right side of the machine to the front.

Are they both correct for the machine? Is one more desirable than the other?

Yes, both are correct.

The "large" coinhead is more desirable and with everything else being equal (# of jackpots, condition, etc.) should sell for more money. Probably at least a couple of hundred dollars.

The rarest in my opinion is the very early small coin head with no jackpot. I would agree with Dave. Large is more desireable.

I agree with Dave & George--the larger coin head commands a couple hundred premium, but the smaller is rarer, and personally, I would take the small head over the large head, in part because of the rarity and it's obviously also the older model.

Is the small head really rarer? Perhaps my memory is wrong but it seems like when I go to shows like Chicagoland there are a lot more small head Dukes for sale than large heads.

I know the small heads were made first but I wonder if Jennings made more of them than the later model, or, perhaps the large heads just tend to stay in peoples collections and not get traded as much.
