Roman head gold award question

Hi. I'm new to this forum, but not new to the coin op world. Been on a hiatus for a number of years. I used to restore Juke boxes and did the Chicago show since its inception, back when Pete H, Steve G, and Bob S owned it.

Today I bought a 25 cent Mills Roman Head. I know it has been jacked with because the reel strips were silver, not metal like they should be. Here's my question. The castings, wood case,back door, jackpots, lock, key and handle are all correct.
It appears, from my observation of the top casting, that this was once a gold award machine; unless that window is in all top castings and just blocked out from the rear on the non gold award models. I can't remember, but if this was originally a gold award machine, how difficult, (and expensive; maybe not cost efective) would it be to put it back to its correct configuration?
Or...........maybe I'm better off just selling it as it is
Any ideas?

You mentioned the window in the top casting - you mean the bottom casting I think. If it was cast to the original match plates the reverse side will have the GA vendor mountings.
Somehow my gut tells me you may have ended up with a repro, I sensed that as soon as you wrote "25c" and went on to the blanked out GA window.
'My' other tell-tale sign of a repro - and we've not seen pics - is: If it has a chunky club handle that extends above the flat top of the machine it's a repro....

No matter if you like it, just hoping you were'nt sold it as 1932..
