Play the machine if works okay ie. doesn't jam, plays smoothly, buy it. It may not have been restored correctly but it will look good in the den or game room and be a great conversation piece. As you learn more about machines you might become more interested in things that are as original as possible. When talking about objects that are close to 80 years old you have to be the judge.
