Mills vest pocket payout

Ok, so i bought a 5 cent Mills vest pocket recently and im having a bit of trouble figuring out the payout. It plays perfectly fine, but when i got bunch of nickels and started to continuously cycle it i noticed a couple of issues. First thing was with the cherries. When i got cherry, cherry, & anything, this payed out 3 nickels which is the correct amount. However, when i hit cherry, cherry, & bell, or cherry, cherry, & lemon, this resulted in a payout of 6 nickels, while the indicated payout is 5.
The next issue is plums. When i got plum, plum, & bar (i only hit it twice) the resulting payout was 13 nickels the first time, and 15 nickels the second time. While the indicated payout for this should be 14 nickels. Now the real issue that confuses me, is when i hit plum, plum, & plum. When i got 3 plums (also only hit this combination twice) the resulting payout from my machine was 3 nickels, when it should have been 14!

Also, if it means anything, i did get one bar, bell, bell combo and that did pay the correct amount (18 nickels). While i was cycling the machine (i did it for at least a half hour) i didn't get any combinations with oranges, and i got several payouts with the cherry combinations (at least one every five pulls!)

When payouts are 1 coin off it's usually due to the coin thickness or worn, loose slides. The 3-plum payout of 3 coins sounds like incorrect or mis-oriented reel strips.
