Radio vendor help / favor?

Postby buzzojoe » Fri Jan 18, 2013 6:59 am

I just picked up a really nice Radio Vendor nut machine. Someone has removed the electrical stuff from it. I'm assuming that it's just a cord and a light socket with a clip to hold the bulb properly in front of the red lens on the front of the machine. I was wondering if anyone on this forum has a radio vendor in their collection, and if so if they would be willing to open up their machine and snap a picture of their electrical setup for me.
Obviously I can easily put something generic together, but I'd like to make it look as close to "original" as possible.
Thanks in advance for any help!

These don't seem to come up often and when they do, apparently you got yours the way they are mostly found; electrics removed.

One sold on ebay with a cord coming out the back; that was in 2008.
It was locked with no key, so no pictures of the inside; just the front.

I would think there was a heating element in the nut compartment and a small bulb behind the red lens.

This probably won't help: I have a Radio Vendor that is in bad shape. I actually had no idea that there ever were any electrical parts in these machines. Mine has broken glass, a rusted vendor mech, and no key/lock. It does have most of the original decals. Let me know if you want any pictures. Can you post pictures of yours?

The one I had is long gone; it also was in sad shape and missing the electrics.
I traded it off thinking I'd like to find an intact one someday.
Sorry.

I also have a Radio Vendor,, without the wall mount AND the electric lamp set up.
Does anybody have any pictures to show these missing parts?
Mine is in excellent condition but I would like to have all the parts.
It is made by the Machen Co., Cedar Rapids, IA, c. 1930's

I notice that the vendor has a small hole in the top, did this vendor have a marque on top?
Thanks for any and all help
