Welding pot Metal

I have a 2 inch in diameter decorative pot metal sphere that is part of a stand for an old smoking table that needs to be repaired. Someone over-tightened the metal rod that went through ithe sphere and put a small crack in it.

I saw a you tube video for a welding rod called "Super Alloy 1", that is supposed to be good for this type of repair because it has a very low melting point ( I think it's put out by Muggyweld.com ).

Doe anyone know about how well this stuff works,,, or a better way to fix the crack ?
