1942 Mills "Golden Cherry"

I am new to the Coin Op Furum, and to the antique slot machine arena. I started looking recently because I would like to put one in my game room. I came across a machine that the owner claims to be a 1942 Mills "Golden Cherry". I cannot find "Golden Cherry" listed as a Mills model. Does this mean that it is a reproduction or fake or is it just repainted and the owner named it himself? It looks like a black cherry, but the face is gold. I tried to post a picture in the "Pictures" section, but it said the board quota was exceeded.

I have never heard of a Golden Cherry made by Mills.

I just granted more space to the attachment area so try and post your photo again.

Funnily enough a Black Cherry I bought about twelve years ago was also painted gold but there was evidence inside the castings that it had been re-sprayed over the original silver/grey (which I returned it to). Nice enough looking machine there though jocdvm.
Probably a later bib though - they would usually have had a fifth cherry emblem in place of the screen printed one.

I agree, but you can also order gold strips and use those to match the gold color, it does look very nice this way. I wouldn't think that someone would convert a golden falls to a Black cherry, as I think the golden falls are nicer looking then the black cherry, but that is just me and my opinion.
