Anyone live close to Morphy Auctions??

Hi Guys

I recently bid and won a Pace Kitty from the last Morphy Auctions on June 1st.
Just wondered, although a long shot, if anyone nearby to this auction house could pop in and just check it over so I know what to expect when it arrives.

Wow that was over a month ago, has not shipped yet?
I know that Larry DeBaugh was at that auction I spoke to him about that Kitty, he said that it was a pretty nice original including paint, I personally never saw a blue Kitty before.

You are a brave man to buy a Kitty at an auction without having someone inspect it. A lot of Kitties are missing some or all of the Kitty parts. The catalog states it has all the Kitty parts so that is good but I have seen auction catalogs be wrong. From the one picture shown it does have the counter which is a good sign.

I don't think there is any way the paint is original. The catalog states that it has been repainted.

If it has all the correct parts you got it at a pretty good price (including the ridiculous 20% commission) . Congratulations. The owner of the Kitty left a lot of money on the table. I am surprised he let it go so cheap. After the commission he had to pay he got barely over $5K (assuming 15% commission on hammer price of $6K).

I think you could easily sell it for more than you paid for it and if you had it painted the correct colors it would be worth a lot more. This is probably one of the few times that you would recoup the cost of having the machine stripped and painted properly.

They included lots of pictures of the machine but NONE showing the front of the mechanism or the inside of the front casting. Strange. If they would have done that I think the price would have gone higher.

Just wanted to thank you both for your kind comments about my recent Kitty win. I've always wanted one of these machines and is the one machine missing from my collection. I was recently diagnosed with an illness that will get worse, so I just thought "what the hell" even if I can't afford it, its only money, and want some enjoyment to my life. May seem strange but as an avid collector of these wonderful inventions, the Kitty system has always fascinated me.
Thanks again for the advice, as you say from the picture it appears to have the correct parts, lets hope that when I pay next week and it arrives, it really is a working model!!!

I agree that we only go around once and I am glad that you finally have the one machine that you wanted for you collection, I enjoy mine fun machine.
I must have miss understood Larry when we were talking about the slots at that auction, reading the description it clearly states that it was a repaint.

Hi Guys

Just wanted to let you know that the Machine arrived in the UK last week, took FedEx 4 days to deliver. And yes the machine is in perfect working order, with all "Kitty" bits in place, nothing missing, and works perfectly!!! So thanks to the person who sold it at the Morphy Auction.
I'm very pleased with it and completes my "Bucket List" of wants!!! The Pace Kitty is a Beauty, worth every penny!!!!

Well, I guess that explains why you didn't go to the auction. I am sure it is a huge relief that it arrived in good shape and had all the Kitty parts.
