I'll try to do 27 through 30 and see how it goes. A decent shortcut would help a lot.

Rick
Is downloading them in HTML going to be ok? Seems like that's what my computer wants to do. They look great from the download when brought back up, I checked, but I want to be sure what i'm doing is good. Thanks

Here is my  devilish  idea...
I have created Wordpad documents with direct HyperLinks to the PDF files.
The documents contain links to 150 pages for each monthly issue. I didn't see more pages than that in the months I looked at.
If there are more links in my document than there are PDF pages it's not a problem. Just stop when you reach the end of the actual document files for that month.

Rick-okc, Please try one or more of these files and let me know if it is in fact a timesaver. You obviously have the MOST experience with downloading from the IAM site.... :D

These are links to my Hyperlink documents. Just download them and load them into WORDPAD, then click the links and save off the pdf's as they load.
(To force the rtf documents to load into Wordpad rather than Word, simply right-click on the rtf file and tell it to "Open with" Wordpad.)

If y'all think it's this is a worthwhile shortcut I can pretty easily make more document files for more years and months, now that I have and original "hyperlink source" document set up on my computer.

I put Hyperlinks for the entire year for 1934 through 1937 each into a single file.
Somebody please let me know if this is easier than stepping through the issues/pages links directly on the Int'l Arcade Museum site . . . :?:

I assure you, some issues run to well over 300 pages:

http://aa.arcade-museum.com/Automatic-Age-1936-01/

But what's really got me wondering: why are you guys conspiring to "obtain" something that's being offered freely anyway, at least since the start of last month? #-o It's like you're photocopying library books, or stuffing your pockets with little packages of ketchup from a burger joint. Are you planning to reorganize the material so you can more easily browse previews or thumbnails? Because that's the only improvement to the existing presentation I can imagine, and I bet if you suggested that to the good folks at IAM, they'd probably implement it.

I don't think the IAM people are going to pull this resource down unless somebody does something really rotten, like trying to pirate CDs of their free, good-faith online material on fleaBay...

Onion-

Thanks for pointing out the 300+ page issue.

I guess I don't really know the reason why to download them all, other than to guarantee they're still available should the IAM site go down for any reason. I also had the impression that Rick-okc intended to assemble the individual pdf pages for each month into complete monthly pdf "issues", but I guess he didn't actually say that...

Yes, and then I suddenly realized that people associated with this forum, and with COPS, etc. could use a backup if IAM pulls AA down because of piracy from some other... location. We're supposedly the good guys-- right? Carry on!

Guys,

Sorry for taking so long to respond.
I've on the road to Oklahoma City to visit friends.

What I've been doing is downloading each pdf file (one per page).
I'm then taking those individual files and merging into a single document, one for each month.
If you could download the individual pdfs and put them on a cd and mail, not email, them to me, that would work great for me. I live out in the country and my internet is through Verizon's data plan and I don't want to go over.

I just learned about some software that may help us download all these files faster. Its called HTTRACK. I know nothing about it yet. I may have to wait until we get back home next week to look at it. Apparently, you tell it to look at a web site and download all associated files onwith that site. If someone wants to look at HTTTRACK and see if it will help us.

If you try it , put this link only for download the "automatic age magazin" : http://aa.arcade-museum.com/

and go to the option ,"scan rules" , remove all ,clic on "include link" , criterion : "files name with this extention" , string : PDF , ADD ; annnndd Lets go !! =P~

The program make all for you !! Just need to compile each pdf in one for each month when you have received all !!
Be sure to check if you have the size on your hard disk for received all !

Apparently that HTTRACK software will work for batch downloading all the PDF files.
Can't wait to try it when I get home next week.

Guys, may I suggest we all go over to the IAM site and make a donation.
Without them, this valuable information would not easily be available to us.
I understand they are working on obtaining COIN MACHINE REVIEW also.
