Roman Head Repo?

Postby Drizzt76 » Mon Nov 25, 2013 8:30 am

I'm looking at picking this machine up locally but don't like that the numbers above the pay card. I'll attempt to attach a photo but its a three digit number (107) and not a six digit number. Most likely I will stay away from it because if there is any question....I don't want to have to explain it to the next owner. I also applogize that its a little blurry but the lighting wasn't the best. If you would like more pictures just let me know. Thanks!

You might want to look at this slot closer, I dont think that the reproductions ever came with gold award, if you could get more and better pictures including the mech might be able to get you more info.

Very few fakes were made in the dime denomination.

If the reel bundle has gold award symbols on it and all the gold award hardware is there I think you are fine.

Seeing the 107 number on it would make me feel better about it. Operators for identification purposes and inventory stamped numbers all over these machines. The fake repros don't have numbers stamped on them like this that I have ever seen. I've had numerous ones where the side of the wood cabinet have been branded with either company or operator initials. Never seen a fake with gold award or in a dime denomination. It's a legit machine. Looks like the reel strips may have been replaced if that is a big deal to you.

I agree, it looks legit, although it has been through a restoration. I can see an updated spring or two, and as was said, the reel strips and the wood have both been replaced, unless this thing never saw a commercial environment. Usually the wood around where the coin box slides in and out is dinged up, along with the outside edges of the base and along where the back fits on..... Not a big deal though, the mech and case look original.

I guess the next thing to do is cycle the machine stop the clock and see if it dispenses the gold award and might as well see if it trips the jack pot and dumps the reserve, if all that works you got a nice find.

What about a cash box, back door and lock? If they are missing or reproductions you can negotiate a better price, not uncommon to see original slots with these being reproduction.

I'll stop by again and try to trip the gold coins and take better pictures. Like many of you I don't want to move a repo machine under any circumstance. The lock mech. isn't original but the door looks good. I also appreciate the help.
