Jennings Governor slot machine

hi
a friend has just inherited a Jennings Governor slot machine , but it has no keys and the back door is locked. its one of the locks that has a round key, any idea how to get into the lock, eg drill it out?
any suggestions welcome

Find a Qualified Locksmith a get the lock re-keyed....PAY the EXTRA Money to have it done in your home...SAVE the LOCK... John

Do not drill it out . ... DONT DO IT. If you cant get a locksmith to come to your house, take it to one. But dont leave it there and dont let them open it up without you watching. If there is old coins in it, they could disappear. Even tho the machine is 1950 it still could have some old coins in it. The key can be cut for it or you can get an original replacement, but they cant cut a key to a drill out lock.

I, after reading the first post better, see that the lock is an ace lock. Dont think this is an original lock for this machine, could be wrong. Takes a round key. Those type of locks are available at most locksmiths and a replacement would be cheaper usually than to pay a locksmith to come to your house. This type of lock is hard to drill out and if you take it to a locksmith, its an easy quick job for them with the right lock pick. Just a couple of pulls on a trigger and it is open. If in doubt ... post a picture of the lock. The main thing is not to damage the lock mounting inside the door if you drill it out.

That is an ACE lock you are describing, and most of the later model Jennings used this lock.
Many of these locks have a number stamped on the face. If yours does, that is the key number.
I have a large number of ACE keys, and could have what you need. If not, there are others that
have spare keys, which are sometimes listed on eBay. Just DON'T drill out the lock.
Check for that number, and let us know.

Hi guys
Got the machine from my friend , for a low cost, it needs full re plating ( rechroming) new coin denominator display,
Took the machine to locksmith got back open, also locksmith cut a new key
I am in the uk it takes a 5 pence coin for 2 pulls, with the mech out of the cabinet. When you insert a coin it goes into the coin return slot and spits the coin out, coin does not go into the escalator, when you cycle the machine the chain drive does not move, the reels spin slowly,
Any ideas welcome
