Older, long out-of-print, coin-op magazines

Got a question for those in the know.
I have a complete set of back issues of Slot(Machine)-(Juke)Box Collector, Classic Amusement, and Coin-Op Classics magazines.
If my memory serves me correctly Slot-Box Collector and Classic Amusements magazines were the product of Eric Hatchel.
They were published, Slot-Box Collector from May 91 until Oct 92, and then Classic Amusements from Nov 92 until Aug 93.
I had the pleasure of meeting Eric and wrote a few articles for him. I liked the magazines and thought he did a good job.
Sadly, I lost touch with him.
Coin-Op Classics magazines was published from Mar 94 until "Winter" 97 by Peter Movsesian.
To make it easier for me to research a machine, I've scanned them all into PDF files on my computer.

Now my question for you guys.
Who owns the rights to these three great magazines? I'd like to offer the PDF files for sale, but not if I'm stepping on someone's toes.

It seems a shame that most new collectors may never see some of these older magazines and their contents.

Cudo's to you, for taking the time, to build the PDF files on our hobbies magazines. Those issues are all history now,
with no back issues available, and most can only be found via the likes of eBay offerings. This will be a really big help
for all of our new entries into the hobby, that were not with us during the publication years. If I can help with acquiring
any permission rights from the original publishers, just let me know, as I have all their contact info, as I wrote for all
of them at one time. There is also another short-run magazine, that you might want to consider with this group. Right
now, I am not at the location of all my files, so will have to get back to you at that time. The only person that I can think
of, that you could have a problem with, would be Hoflin Publications, who is still in business, and were the last ones to
print the final issues of 'The Coin Slot'. Don Hoflin is the one that had a law suit going with our late Dick Bueschel for a
year and a half, and was a real jerk over the entire situation. But being as the remaining back issues of this magazine
have been sold to someone else, it may not be a problem, but that's to be discovered. The person that has them now, I
have not seen them advertised for availability as yet. This was rather a huge pleasant surprise, when I first heard about
it, as I had no idea that they had survived. When 'The Coin Slot' went 'belly-up' at Hoflin, a short time later, a new collector
got ahold of me, asking if back issues were available, and I said they should be. He contacted the publisher, and they told
him 'NO'. I then called Hoflin Publishing, and spoke with a lady, that had worked there for many years, and she told me that
'good ole Don', had ordered them all to be tossed into the company dumpster. I couldn't believe it, and said that it is common
sense, that there is money to be made with back issues, and she agreed, but that was what happened. So, from what I know
now, they were apparently stashed somewhere, only to surface, and be sold last year. I will also contact the new owner,
when I return, to see what is going on with these issues.

Freddy. please forgive me. I responded back to you offering them for sale too soon.
Based on a couple of private messages I've received, I'm going to hold off on selling anything to make sure I'm not getting myself in hot water.
Lets give this a couple of months to see what happens.

If and when I do sell them, I'm not going to be asking a lot for them.
I wouldn't mind getting paid for my time scanning everything and compiling the PDF files, but I'm not looking to make a killing on them.
I was thinking $40 for all three magazines. That's a little over 5GB of data on 2 DVDs.

Another magazine I'd like to start working on is Coin Drop International published by Rosanna Harris.
This was in a news paper format and it will be interesting to see how many have survived.
I have all of 1999 plus a couple more.
I wonder if Eric, Paul, and Rosanna have any rights to these magazines or does someone else own them?

As for Coin Slot magazine (US version), International Arcade Museum (IAM) owns the rights.
They already have a good portion of the early half of the issues available for view/download.
A little over a year ago I was talking to Greg McLemore over there, nice fellow, and he told me that.
I've sent him a question about Slot-Box, Classic Amusements, and Classic Amusements ownership and have not heard back.
They also have a gold mine in almost all of the Automatic Age magazines from 1925 thru 1945 available for view/download.
My only complaint is, it's one page at a time. Took a while downloading over 25,000 pages and compiling them into monthly PDF files. (NOT for sale!)
They're also working on Coin Machine Review.
I really like what they're doing and don't want to get in their way.
If someone raises a stink about me making a few dollars selling Slot-Box, Classic Amusements, and Coin-Op Classics; I'd be willing to give my PDF files to IAM so they could offer them for free download.

If you look around, you can still buy a DVD with all of Loose Change magazines in PDF. I think the same for Gameroom magazine.
I wish that was the case with Jukebox Collector and Always Jukin.

It sure would be nice to have a place to go to either download or even buy all these great old coin-op magazines.
Especially for all the new collectors.

If you scan them in please make the PDF searchable.

I scanned in Slots 1 2 3 4 years ago and made them into a single searchable PDF and it is very useful for doing quick searches.

I also purchased the DVD from Mead Publishing which has all the Loose Change magazines in it. It is very nice but the PDFs were not searchable. I converted all of them to be in searchable format and it is very useful.

I also thought about making my PDFs of Slots 1 2 3 4 available for others but didn't know what the copyright issues were.

Hi,
Last year I donated copies of my 1700 + of the weekly and original British Coin Slot newspapers to Greg, I am sure he is going to make them available to his readers, be carefull, because he does tend to follow a legal path and tries to get the copyrights, he knows how important that is because he made his millions with his Web magic company that registered all of the trade names so he could sell them for use as Web sites.
I don't think you should offer the The Automatic Age articles because he does own the rights to those, let me know when you are ready to sell me some of the magazines you suggested.
