Thank you for the suggestions. It makes sense now maybe trimming off the horizontal lever isn't a good idea. Timing might be the direction I go in to start. As far as springs go, it's a good idea also and may be part of what might help cure the issue but I have been watching the 4th/5th click and think there may be something in this area to check into further. It does pay out correctly once in awhile on the double cherry but if it doesn't there is more than normal force needed to trip the 3 slide using the vertical finger.

It is correct the 2 pay correctly whether it's one cherry or 2 hit. Just most times the 3 pay slide doesn't pay correctly all the time with the 2 cherries.

I've taken all the slides out except the 2 and 3 pay sides and use my fingers to keep the 3 pay slide from popping up to get a better look at what's going on but had to take care of some honey do's before getting able to cycle the mech to get a better view. Have to keep momma happy too. I'll keep you posted.

Well, not to be redundant, but what the heck, I will anyway!
The fact that you say "but if it doesn't there is more than normal force needed to trip the 3 slide using the vertical finger." visually check the contact point between the vertical pay finger and the horizontal payout slide release lever for the 3 pay slide as well as in the shop I have found that a bent vertical pay finger can cause that as well!
Sometimes for whatever reason a person will bend the vertical pay finger out of correct adjustment!
Or it could be a reproduction vertical pay finger that never was correct!
Just another possibility to check!
A photo of that area may be of help as well!

Ok Fellas, we have success! Thanks to all your help and suggestions. After playing with the slot and getting it ready to take some pics and video, I adjusted the fan a bit to slow the mech down first for the heck of it. There is no adjustment for the 4th click on this(Sega) so the fan is the only easy timing I could try. It pays out 100% now. Well, it didn't, but it does now. I did have to adjust the jackpot vertical finger slightly due to it paying out with the left and middle bar on the pay line and the 3rd bar one spot up or down from pay line. So a bit of adjustment and its paying correctly too.

This is a friends slot that he picked up from quite a character. It was an interesting story about him and his son picking the slot up but will save that for another day. There were parts and springs missing, terrible cob jobs that involved jb weld to retain the escalator screws in the stripped out holes, to obvious signs of someone in there "adjusting" and "lubing" stuff. So it has been a labor of love, and a 12 pack, to get this thing going lol. But I am proud to say there is no longer any cob work on this slot. lol.
