Anyone know anything about or have pictures of a Mills slot machine called VEND A MINT or something like that. I believe it is a FOK with two rows of mints.

Hope these help.
First: Here is the more common "F.O.K." 2 column mint vender,
more commonly referred to as the "Double Eagle".

This is the later model "F.O.K." Diamond Pattern, which is most likely the one that has
been called Vend-A-Mint, because of a card that was printed that way on some models.

Someone just called me to see if I would be interested in the machine. I have not seen the machine or seen pictures of it yet. Just trying to gather some info on it. Hope to see it sometime in a week or so to see if I would buy it. The person stated that he thought it was a late 1920"s machine.

Here's another Mills FOK vendor. Similar casting to the previous pic. My research was that this was called a Mills Cross Diamond. Supposedly made for the New York gangster Frank Costello.

You are absolutely correct. This model was called the "Cross Diamond", and was a special order machine from Mills.
I have also seen one version of the model that I sent the above pix, with a light-up award panel, in the center, where
the 'Mints of Quality 5c' card is. As I stated earlier, this machine is really not referred to as being an "F.O.K" model.

Hi Guy's,
When Frank Costello operated his machines in New York City, he ran them through The True-Mint Vending Company. that was the Mills distributor, when the police went into a location, and they saw the Mint Vendor with the Diamond Cabinet, them left them alone, that was changed when Mayor La Guardia cleaned up the gambling in New York City. a similar model was also produced for Joe Calcutt the distributor in the Caroliners. Costello operated the future pay model.known as the "Wisecracker".

Just new to your forum and new to antique slot machines. I'm just starting this restoration journey with a 1930's Mills Double Eagle and I have some really basic questions:

1) what does F.O.K. stand for?
2) a lot of the pictures I see of the Mills Double Eagles show some kind of mint/candy in the dispenser ... can anyone tell me how or where to purchase such candies/mints?

Any help would be appreciated.

1. Back in the day, slot machines were illegal to operate in many jurisdictions. In order to circumvent those local laws, this Front was O.K. to operate there since it made the machine a vending machine, not a gambling machine (wink, wink).

2. Just try your favorite roll candy. to see if it works. However, most guys just cut a dowel down to the proper size and wrap it with reproduction vintage candy roll wrappers (which are available on FleaBay or from other collectors) just for show.
