Looks like the slide assembly is either Mills or directly based on the Mills payout slides!
To me it looks like a small route operator did some revamping and modifying of this puppy to his own liking!

And your most recent photo of the front of the mech shows the standard 2/4 payout slide set which is appropriate & correct for the front casting!
Let us know if you find out anything more on whether this particular slot had a front jackpot which was removed during its lifetime but finding one to replace the one removed may be a challenge and the tripping assembly on the front of the mech may be very hard to find as well!
You may have to leave it like it is and just load nickels in the front jackpot for show!
Bona Fortuna!

The mech is a Mills COK. This was a metal front no jackpot with deferred pay unit which is missing. The jackpot trip does not appear to have ever been installed if this is the mech for the Rockola you have pictured. Monti is right it would be a challenge to find parts.

Thanks for all the comments guys, greatly appreciated. On the inside corner of the casting is an inspection tag dated 1934 if that makes any difference.

Just out of curiosity, is there a bug on the reel disc blocking hitting the jackpot ?

Looked to see if I had any pics of the jackpot parts missing and found these. Not much but something.

Great Pics mechanic!
I had never seen one of those trip assemblies before, interesting!
If they did that with the mech parts the front jackpot must be fairly unusual itself!

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. Now to try finding the necessary parts and pieces. Our plan is to get if working as is and if jackpot parts come available we will add them.
Thanks again
