Monti gave you the best guess at dating your machine. The records you’re looking for, for exact dating don’t exist. Although collectors would like to know production dates, that was not the main purpose for compiling the serial number lists. The main reason was to know how many surviving examples of each model there was and the denomination of the machine. And Monti is correct, machines were given a serial number as they came off the assembly line and not serialized by machine model.

I graciously thank each of you for your responses to my search into the Mills Melon Bell (watermelon) 25c Slot Machine. Monti, you have been of great help. Thank you. Should someone know which of Bueschel’s books contain serial numbers, please let me know, so I could find one for purchase. I will start to research that as well. I have throughly enjoyed reading all of the responses I’ve received. I sincerely hope each of you hit the jackpot today !!!

Richard Bueschel Book vol 3 has the serial numbers in it.

There have been a couple of fairly extensive serial number lists compiled by a couple of different people over the years. More comprehensive than what Dick did. These lists show up for sale occasionally. Buschuel’s list was done in the 80’s I believe.

They were sold by the couple of people who spent the time to compile them. Copy could show up on EBay, post in Wanted section of this Forum you want to buy a serial number list and also post in COCA free classifieds.

Yes, this looks like what I’m looking for. How did you get a copy. I’m interested in narrowing down production year. It appears from responses I’ve received, my Mills Slot Machine serial number 543637 falls later in 1946 or after. If you could narrow it down more I’d appreciated it. Maybe take screen shot of the page that includes numbers near my. I’d also be interested in getting a copy of your list if possible.
