Mills roman head - reel speed issue

I purchased a Mills Roman head and sometimes the first reel stops almost direct after pulling the handle, other times it runs normal.
This occurs 2 or 3 times and after that it runs normal and then it occurs again.
I adjusted all the breaks and put some grease on the breaks were it touches the reel.
Clock vent is wide (straight) without adjustment.
Hope I am clear since I am not English.

Hello, Not sure what level of experience you have in the disassembly process of your Mills Roman head slot machine but I would start by checking to see if the reel stop levers are not gummed up and the Reel stop lever springs are not stretched out. If that nots the issue I would remove the reel bundle and hand spin each reel to confirm its spinning freely. I have included some pictures to help you identify the parts and help in your troubleshooting efforts.

wow this looks great and I will check it out for certain, and indeed I would love to have a copy of this manual also.... can it be purchased somewhere?

Hi Again Guys, Yes I purchased this book from the Liberty Belle Book Store and had a nice long talk with Marshall (son of Charles Fey) in 2022 and it was very interesting to hear about his slot collection and all the fun at his Liberty Bell casino in Reno. You might find a used one on flea bay but I wanted to support his website- Best Regards Bill
