They are not rare or even uncommon, that's why there are many for sale on Ebay. There were lots produced and lots have survived. Mills made a great mechanism and they are real work horses. Actual production amounts, I'm sure are unkown. Dave, whose site this is, made a CD for the Mills mech and is quite good for repair. A good book is the Meade/Geddes Mills repair manual. You can find them on Ebay or contact Meade Publishing but they may be out of print. Rule of thumb, if there is 4 or 5 of something for sale on Ebay, it's not rare. Some guy has his Bursting Cherry listed for sale as "Very, Very rare." Just because an individual has not seen a lot of something before, that does not make it rare.
