Being the fair and honest company that Rockola was, they always did things on an even basis, and never favored one sex over the other. Therefore, the 8 horses were evenly divided as 4 Studs, and 4 Mares. Before you ask again, the black, blue, yellow & orange are Studs, and the pink, green, white & red are Mares. Maybe this is another way that we can detect an original from a repro. I'll just bet that the repro's have all Studs.

Ooops! I just realized one other detail about the horses, before someone asks. The Rockola horses never came with saddles & jockeys. They were well trained, and ran the course on their own. :)

Another Sweepstakes has appeared on ebay; item 300933574802

This one looks too good, so it naturally raises suspicion that it is a reproduction.
The seller references this thread and our resident expert comments to assert that this machine, serial number 4216, is all original.

You have to give the seller credit for his honesty. Referencing this thread tells me he is stating all the facts as he knows them and invites people to ask the experts here about his machine.

Perhaps all sellers of slots should suggest people come to the forum and ask the experts if they are unsure about their machine.

Regarding the non-gum model "Official Sweepstakes" noted above, the seller 'eyezapper', definitely has a nice clean Original machine.
Although, sometimes hard to tell the difference with some sellers photos, every detail that I see in these photos, tells me that it is indeed
a true and authentic Original. Everything I checked is correct, even down to the serial number, which is stamped uneven, as is the case
with most mfr. stampings, and is of the correct number font & size. If the repros were to be stamped, I would think that they would tend
to take more time to stamp the numbers more in a straight even line. Also, all of the small instruction cards on the left front of the repros,
are on white stock with black letters. The originals came in two different colors. Black with silver lettering, (as on this one), or red with
black lettering, (which is the way I did my repro cards). I never did the black version. So, if anyone in our Forum Group is looking to buy
a nice original "Sweepstakes", this is one to go after.
