Both the Fey book and Dick Bueschel (Lemons, Cherries, etc) reference the wood case Victory Chief. Fey dates it to 1942, Bueschel in Aug 1941.
The seller of this auction is a knowledgeable guy and I would tend to believe he is accurate in his slot descriptions, although i have never met him.
