I have been tracking eBay & VCA auctions for my Trade Stimulator Price Guide. There has been only one that I have seen. That sold 11/11/2006 for $14,000. There is no picture available for that machine.

Lets have a few comments from other collectors. Anyone want to take a guess at what this one will close at.

Wow,
I'm at a loss. Rare and desirable machine, but I wouldn't know where to shop for parts.
Not in the best of condition and the bids are by relatively novice eBayers.
I'd doubt if the price would even double.
...but then again, what do I know?

I'm also in the "not a clue" category, and I don't even gamble, but I'll take a stab anyway:

Based strictly on my very limited experience watching the trajectories of bidding behavior on eBay, I'd reckon that extrapolating from the current level of interest near mid-way through the auction that it'll end up $3K to $5k, even despite the fact that the thing is totally busted and incomplete.

Lets have a few comments from other collectors. Anyone want to take a guess at what this one will close at.

1 day, 11 hours to go, and holding firm at 18 bids. I suspect there are two interested with one additional sniper.
It holds my interest, fer sure.

This is the phase I call the "lull." It usually begins about halfway through the duration of the auction. During this time, the few seriously interested parties are rubbing their hands together wondering just how high the top bidder set his price, but they don't want to tip their hand too early as that would only raise the price on their own heads. They're literally saving it for the last minute. Conversely, the top bidder is also rubbing his hands together during the lull, wishing the other parties would simply drop dead. I've only seen a couple of instances where the "lull bid" was the final bid; the closing bid (in my very limited experience) is typically 50% to 100% over the lull.

Disclaimer: This is only my own, homegrown, armchair hypothesis, and I don't know what I'm talking about anyway. And lottery games should not be played for investment purposes.

I gave the seller more info. about the origins of this machine. He promised once the auction is over & feedback is left to tell me how he acquired it. When I receive this from him I will post it in the forum. It would be something if he picked it up at a flea market for 10 bucks. His eBay mail box was loaded with offers. He said the auction will go to the end.

Didnt even think about how he got it, now im really interested to find out! love to hear about those "in the attic" or "under a table at a flea market" finds!

The next phase, which usually begins a few hours to 1 minute before the end of the auction, is what I call the "frenzy."



During this often amazingly brief period the animals gather to test the top bidder, who sometimes just sits the thing out and furtively lets the automatic bidding notch up the price he has to pay. Every now and then you might see a situation where the top bidder is capped by only a few pennies by somebody who shows up literally at the last minute. The final fifteen seconds are often very entertaining.

Disclaimer: I'm not saying this will definitely happen on this auction, only that this reflects the behavior I've observed several times when there is this level of apparent interest in an item. In my personal opinion, the condition of the item here-- broken and totally gutted-- renders even the current bid utterly irrational, but what do I know? Maybe somebody wants to use it as a planter. Oops! Can't be used as a planter-- it's cracked!
