I spoke with this guy on the phone, close to a year ago, about all these machines.
They are all on consignment, so he really doesn't have much say about them, except
to say from the beginning, "I don't want that Phoney Crap in my store". But he didn't
do that, so I guess they will sit there for a few more years gathering dust. The only
way these machines will move, is if someone happens-by, with bottomless pockets,
that doesn't know any better. Kinda like the Crap that sells at Chicago, by the L.V.
Butchershop, of which he had a another supply of this past show.

The Bentcoin has another eBay auction. I saw this one at the show. It comes with a add on Tavern marquee. Bill read the narrative of the auction as there is a message to you.

From the photos, this Ball Gum/Tavern has the patina of an original machine,
but from the reputation of the dirt-bag seller, it is immediately suspect.
It'll be interesting to see the Trade Stimulator expert's comments on this.

IF it is original, why on earth would the seller offer to send a reproduction Tavern marque with it?
To me, that indicates the seller has no interest in preserving an original machine.
IF it is original, it is much more interesting with the original marque than with a repro replacement.

I think he is trying to pull a "SEE... I TOLD YOU SO".
I could be wrong, but, that's my opinion.
I would think he would turn his talent and skill to more positive / constructive restoration. he obviously has some skill.
too bad he is channeling it in the wrong direction, and, also surprising, as, he has been in the hobby for many years.
i have conversed with him via email, as, he bought some posters from me, and, he was pleasant to chat with, and spoke (wrote) intelligently.
it's a real shame he is ruining these old machines.
it reminds me of of when dan mead put out that book "GUMBALL MACHINES: RIGHT OR WRONG".
Why???????? A book with hundreds of gumball & peanut machines with the wrong globes, wrong thank you flaps, wrong lids, etc:
I never did understand that...except for he made a bunch of dough from it.... oh...wait...bent coin is making a bunch of dough from these "one of a kind" machines.....
I get it now.... screw the hobby...make money!
hmmmmmmm....now think reproduction slot machines.....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, i don't think i'll go there today.

This is the same condition as it was at the show. I was looking at the same machine. It was in the room that had the pinball machines not the main hall.

Yes it was brought by another seller. I was there on Friday but it was gone when I returned on Sunday.

Yes, I saw his Persnickety remark. He can't even word things correctly. I never said these machines were "Hard to find".
What I did say at one time was, "that these Original machines are going to be Harder to find, because this Idiot has been
screwing so many of them up". He has made other remarks, directed to me, in previous machine descriptions. I could
care less! The one I laughed at the most, was when he was selling one of his Tavern's, that had an original award card,
that said "5c Play", instead of the usual 1c Play. His stupid comment was, "Yes Bill, they made a 5c model". That shows
just how much he thinks he knows about these machines. Every one of these Groetchen machines, as well as many other
manufacturers, play on penny, nickel, dime, and most times, quarter as well. Why do you suppose they put a coin-view
window on the side? That's right, so the proprietor could see which coin was played, when paying a winning combination
accordingly. You know damn-well he is monitoring this Forum, (or one of his cohorts is), and relaying to him, what I, and
others are saying about him. You would think by now, that he would have straightened-up his act, and stop taking advantage
of so many new collectors, and screwing them over, with his Bastardized, Made-Up Fantasy machines, when he hears how
many of us, do not appreciate what he is doing to our hobby. We all know what COCA preaches in it's Club Rules, but they
refuse to listen, and toss his Ass out of the Assn.

On a more positive note: This machine he is selling is a 'total original'. I have one just like it, with the Ball Gum nameplate,
and the Tavern strips & card. I also have a completely original Tavern, that the entire case is painted blue wrinkle, which
is what this one has on it. I have seen other Groetchen models that were wrinkle painted, and not the usual plain aluminum,
with a few details in color. Buckley Mfg. was also known for painting several of their models in different colors of wrinkle.
Even though Fred is offering a completely original machine, he has the audacity, to toss in a recast Tavern plate, so as to
encourage his buyer to do exactly what he does - "change something that is original". Gimmie-a-break!
