Just curious; How do you tell if its realm or fake? What do you look for? I have a friend that has an old unrestored one, but have no idea as to how to identify real from a "fake"??? Thanks!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record (remember those--? :D ), I'd suggest you review our forum host's very informative webpage on the subject:

I guarantee it'll be time well spended.

sorry highside, but, this is not a real golden nugget.
it is an after market bolt on conversion kit.
the originals have a different bumper around the coin tray.
while the machine itself may be real, none of the golden nugget parts on this machine are real.
THIS MACHINE NEVER SAW THE INSIDE OF THE GOLDEN NUGGET CASINO.
THIS MACHINE DID NOT LEAVE THE MILLS FACTORY IN IT'S PRESENT CONDITON.
BUYER BEWARE!

may be right with what he said ... but mot of all .... did you enjoy your machine? Did you buy it under the influence it was all original? Most of all .... did you enjoy your machine? ... Hope you did and that makes it ok in my book. As long as when you try to sell it... your honest with what it is. Cant blame you for not being as educated as most folks here.
