SCAM ALERT ON eBay Cherry Front Rol-A-Top

In case you are thinking about bidding on item 220172853859 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220172853859) please be advised that this exact machine was listed on eBay by Frank Z back in February of 2007.

The idiots running the current listing didn't even bother to change the description.

Reported to eBay fraud. Lets follow the auction to see if they take it down. The item number below is Franks original listine number. After 30 as a police officer I just had to do it. Below is my message to eBay.

Item #280074068595 This slot machine was listed but not sold (reserve not met) on Ebay 2 Feb 2007 by zygmunt of Westmont, Il. USA. This is the exact same picture & narrative used in his auction. How can a seller in the UK attempt to sell an item with a picture that is taken in a different country? I believe that this is a fraudulent auction.

In my opinion, eBay will do nothing.

They have shown in the past that they don't care about this sort of thing.

Well, eBay didn't end the auction early (what a surprise).

The machine ended up selling for just under $4,400 (US).

Which, would have been a steal if the machine is legitimate.

Unfortunately, I think someone got screwed unless the bidder knows it was a scam and just bid it up to keep others from getting it.

This was the case in the Rol-A-Tor scam someone tried to pull earlier this year.

Ebay finally responded.

theft. At this time, I didn't find sufficient evidence to show that the
member has violated any eBay policies.

Please understand that in some situations members will allow others to
use their images. It's also possible that the members acquired the photo
from the same source or a source that we can't verify. If this is the
case, eBay can't remove the listings.

We will be able to take action only if the person who owns the image or
text writes to us directly. If you feel strongly about this issue, I
recommend that you contact the seller, informing him or her about your
concerns and recommending that he or she contact eBay. Once we hear from
the seller, we will then take the appropriate action.

What a joke eBay is.

You think they would at least send a note to Frank Z. and ask him about it.

Especially since the seller has zero feedback.

So, apparently, eBay is OK with people showing pictures of rare slot machines and representing that picture as the machine that they are selling even if they don't own it.
