From the "For Amusement Only" book on page 73: This is a "Three Jackpot Counter Pocket" coin drop made by C.C. Clawson, 1893-1902. The picture doesn't show the bars on the top, but the text says "Later versions had a slam bar to prevent extra payoffs; also, a bar at the top tat you could move nickels back and forth with."
