Beyond the fact that most people just like the idea of having a penny machine, it depends on how scarce the denomination is...
In most makes and models penny machines were not very plentiful.
There are exceptions however. The Jennings Little Dukes are mostly penny machines, so a nickel or dime Little Duke sells for a premium over the penny.
