I think these "fakers" realize what they have because they never include more than two or three photos in the description. At least the ones I've seen. No photos of the mechanism out of the cabinet, or of the escalator(kind of hard when the machine doesn't even have one). It's almost like they purposely avoid posting detailed photos for fear of revealing too much and jeopardizing the sale.

I mean, for $3000 I don't think it's asking too much to expect a few more photos.

Maybe the seller was innocently listing something he believed was original when acquired,,, who knows?

Just checked his profile - valve radios etc ALL repros.... So why not say Repro/fake with the slots??

If lots of folk have bought these repro/fakes in ignorance (lets face it, 'Joe Blow' wouldn't know they were being conned) and paid the going rate of about $3k they might just be sore enough to try & offload them to the next mug punter.
There's another in a 'Walker' (?) upright case - ebay item No 330872659705 that is an utter abomination. Matching Rol A Top too (Unsure about the Watling, but very suspicious).
Both are being offered as ANTIQUE. (Seller 'shouting' not me).
Plus a shed load of the usual 'all original, antique' Golden Nuggets and Golfers,,,,,,
Infuriating isn't it?

here is the response I got from the seller while the "War Eagle" was still at the higher price;

"It bears a sticker that says Genuine Mills Machine, This is what I think excludes it from being remanufactured. the name Royal Bell is not on it. excuse me if I am mistaking this but this the info I see.

I can't believe he's actually using a $2.00 sticker as proof of authenticity.

In reference to the repro War Eagle in 'Walker' console I mentioned earlier, to be fair to the seller he has revised his listing to "Antique Style" having taken on board some advice.
Still not my cuppa tea though..

Today the seller finally responded to my email. He also referred to the "original" sticker on the side of the machine as his claim to it not being a remanufactured machine.

I informed him that those stickers are readily available.

I then informed eBay that the machine was a reproduction.

You don't suppose that eBay actually took down the listing do you?

If they did, good for them It would sure be a change in operation for them.

I've seen eBay take down listings before. Usually because the seller didn't have the disclaimer about the sale of slot machines included in their description. Sometimes the seller will then re-list the item and include an explanation of why eBay took down their original listing. I'm gonna guess that's what happened here.

Although just recently I saw a listing for a Castle Front that ran it's full course despite not having the required disclaimer. So it seems it's hit or miss with eBay's monitoring procedures.
