Handle Stuck

I have a Jennings 50 cent Sun Chief Slot Machine, I was trying to sell. The buyer wanted me to test it. I pulled back the two fingers at the top of the mech. Pulled the arm, and worked fine.
I did that several times with no problem. After, I put a 50 cent piece in, the handle pulled half way down, now it is stuck. Most of these machines have been in storage for 20+ years. Have no knowledge
on the mechanisms, any ideas, Caroline Miller

Jiggle the handle. Use the palm of your hand to strike the side of the machine to the left of where you dropped the coin in. Sometimes the coin gets stuck as it goes down to the escaltor and a solid strike will loosen it. Failing that, go here

First you to have to free the handle. There is a ratchet on the side of the mech. Use your finger to release it as you slightly pull on the handle.

Once it’s released, try the machine with a coin. A lot of the Jennings have Anti Cheat parts that’s cause the machine to seize up when played without a coin.

Thanks so much.....Tapping it on either side made no difference, we took the mech out and it still in the half pull position.
Even tap both side lightly with a rubber mallet, with no avail. just seems to be closed.

force down the ratchet. there should be a little bump that pokes out the front of the mechanism. this is what the handle presses on. see if you can bring it down with a wrench

Don’t force anything…You will break it. Here’s a picture of what needs to be released. See the RED circle. Then play it with coins.

The handle is un-stuck, works fine, however when I put a coin in it rejects the 50 cent everytime. coins move across the escalator normally, but still rejects coins

Years and now we have taken them apart to take photos.
