If you don't want to buy the antique War Eagle, you can buy an antique Golden Nugget from the same company . Check out item #6140800016. Where oh where do they find so many "antique" machines?

If E-Bay is serious they should completely shut these guys down. But, I am sure they won't

"Antique" War Eagle

Postby Ric Gandy » Tue Dec 28, 2004 12:50 pm

There has been no response to my email to "slotmachinesusa" concerning the "antique" war eagle they have on eBay. Why does that not surprise me? The two emails I tried to send to them through the eBay "contact the seller" email forwarding system were returned as "undeliverable". Why does that not surprise me either? I sent the same email to the seller through the link provided in the description and no response to date. It is not easy to file a complaint with eBay about something like this. Try it. Like I said, eBay makes it as difficult as they possibly can because they really don't want to hear about stuff like this. In any case, I finally managed to send the following email about the "antique" War Eagle listed at eBay item # 6140799262. I really don't expect much, if anything, out of eBay, but I will report whatever does happen.

6100799262

This is not an antique Mills slot machine as claimed. It is not 25 years old. It is brand new. It is made to look and apparently play like a 1931 Mills "War Eagle" slot machine, but it is not the genuine item as claimed. I attempted to contact the seller through eBay and both attempts were returned as "undeliverable". I then emailed the seller through the link provided in the description. Apparently, this email was received, but I have received no response from the seller. It is my understanding that eBay is cracking down on slot machines and other coin operated gambling devices that are not 25 years old or older. Well, you need to crack down on this seller because this "antique" is brand new. Ric Gandy (337) 988-4183

Either eBay or the seller took the auction down.
Search by seller or number shows no items for sale.

So how far do you take this. The same guy,USA Slots, is also selling a 25 cent Mills Golden Nugget. We know this is bogus also. It certainly is not an original Golden Nuggget. That you can tell from the cabinet. This is a Nugget conversion kit that was put on an original machine or a complete repro machine. Can't tell without better pictures. These kits were made starting in the late 70's and have been used ever since. Sell the machine as a revamped Golden Falls or Black Cherry maybe but it is definitely not a 1948 Golden Nugget. That listing may have been removed but he is now selling TWO Antique Golden Nuggets

Check out http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 00016&rd=1

and http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 14038&rd=1

Both are listed in the 'token' category.

Check out http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 75255&rd=1 for a 25 cent Bursting Cherry.

I have never seen an original Bursting Cherry with a High top style handle, pays out 2/4, has gold reel strips, missing check detector horizontal bar. The escalator is also not an original Mills. There is also no handle pump.

The base is a fake as well as the cash box.

Repro Slot Machines on eBay

Postby Ric Gandy » Wed Dec 29, 2004 9:58 pm

As I stated earlier, I don't have a problem with someone selling a repro slot machine as long as they don't try to pass it off as a genuine antique. Some people don't care if it is old or not. As long as it looks good and works, that is all they care about. I hope eBay is serious about finally enforcing some of it's rules in the coin op section. It is about time. They did stop the auction on the "antique" War Eagle (item # 6140799262). I never did get any kind of response to my emails to the seller, slotmachinesusa. I honestly did not expect to. This guy has all kinds of modern casino slot machines on eBay right now. He claims they have been converted to only take tokens. If they could be converted once, no reason why they could not be converted back, but I am not interested in the new stuff, only the reproduction "antiques". He does have two "antique" Golden Nuggets on eBay right now and I have just filed the following complaint against him. If this seller offends anyone else out there, feel free to do the same.

This seller is selling reproduction, i.e. brand new, slot machines and trying to pass them off as being authentic antique Mills slot machines. I reported the fake "War Eagle" which the seller had listed on eBay at item # 6140799262 and eBay stopped the auction. This seller still has two more of these reproduction "antique" "Mill?s" slot machines up for auction at eBay at item nos. 6140800016 and 6141614038. Neither of these slot machines are authentic Mills slot machines and neither of them are over 25 years old. They are both brand new reproductions. This seller has apparently been allowed to sell this trash on eBay in the past. It is my understanding that eBay has cracked down on reproduction slot machines and anything that is not 25 years old or older and will no longer tolerate these types of auctions. It is about time. One more thing. It is interesting to note that this seller has both of these machines listed in the "token slot machine" section. If they were in fact genuine Mills slot machines from the 40s, you would expect to find them in the "antique coin slot machine" section where they would normally belong. I suspect this seller has these machines listed in the token section because he knows damn well that any experienced coin op person would immediately recognize that these two machines are fakes and would report him to eBay. I will continue to monitor this seller's auctions and report any other reproduction "antiques" he attempts to sell on eBay. Thanks

I see our friend in Ohio has listed yet another Golden Nugget for sale

Check out item # 6142954040.

He states the following in his description:

The quarters on this machine move across the front glass as you pull the arm down. There are reproductions on the market that can be identified by coins that are glued permanently behind the front glass and they do not move across the escalator when you the pull the arm down.

He now has three of these Nuggets for sale. Looks like E-Bay is continuing their previous history of allowing misrepresented machines to be listed.

Reproduction Slot Machines on eBay

Postby Ric Gandy » Thu Jan 13, 2005 11:42 am

eBay finally got around to "investigating" my complaint about the reproduction Mills slot machines which "slotmachinesusa" out of Ohio has been selling on eBay. The seller was not listing his "War Eagles", "Golden Nuggets", "Hightops", and whatever other brand new machines he was trying to pass off as authentic Mills slot machines in the "antique coin slot machine" section on eBay. Instead, he was listing them with the Pachislo machines and other garbage in the "token slot machine" section. I guess he figured anyone looking for a slot machine in the "token slot machine" section would not know the difference. As I have said before, I don't have a problem with reproduction slot machines per se. My problem is when the seller tries to pass them off as original machines. In any case, to the best of my knowledge, eBay finally stopped all of this sellers current auctions. My guess is that they only issued him a warning because he still has other stuff up for auction. But, as you can see from the response I got from eBay, it will continue to be a problem. As eBay clearly states, it DOES NOT police itself. It replies on the users to do that and file a complaint if they see someone doing something wrong. So anyone who wants to complain about the reproduction machines can do something other than bitch about it in this forum. They can file a complaint with eBay each and every time they see one of these reproduction machines. If you don't know how to file a complaint, email me and I will send you the correct site and tell you how to do it. eBay has it's own way of doing things and they don't make it easy to find or do this on your own. Just realize that eBay could care less about all of this. As long as they are getting their commissions, that is all they really care about. They only enforce their rules when someone complains and then it is hardly done in what most people would consider a timely manner. End of speech.

The following is pertinent part of the response I received for eBay:

We have reviewed your report and have taken appropriate action in
accordance with our site policies. Such action may include issuing a
warning, temporary suspension, indefinite suspension or terminating the
membership. Due to privacy concerns, I am not at liberty to discuss the
details of any action taken. I hope you understand this position and
that it assures you that your personal account history will always
remain private.

Please remember that eBay acts only as a venue for sales. We do not
police the site: this is why you may see active items which are in
violation, and we encourage you to report those to us. We instead rely
on reports from concerned users and rights owners.

Thanks again for writing, and thank you for being part of the eBay
community.

It's happening again. A guy selling a repro War Eagle, ebay # 6146521195, is advertising a "genuine 1931 25 cent War Eagle", and this time it is listed under slots and not Token machines.
