1st time slot restoration

Hi ...this is my 1st time restoring a slot machine....I have a Caille Superior which works fine...just needs the reel strips replacing....I am hoping to do this with the reels in situ...( don't want to dismantle at this moment )...any tips will be welcome...thanks ...Tony

Hi

You need the reels out of the machine and a reel crimper to hold the new strips in place so they will not move when playing the slot. It may be possible to do this with the reels in the meck but I never did it that way.

How bad are the strips, if they are not in very bad shape you probably should keep them . Good chance they are near original. T.J. Can you upload a picture?

hello again..thanks for the replies.....the reel strips on my machine are not in good shape...the 3rd reel has had some water damage...the colours faded slightly and have been coloured back in with a felt tip pen....they are also quite grubby...will try to load a photo later..thanks again..Tony

Taking the bundle out of a Caille Superior is more difficult than a Mills or Jennings. If you're not familiar with and are new to this, I would not recommend it. I use one of Jack Brink's crimping tools and you can crimp with the bundle in the machine but to use a tool to straighten the edges of the reels, the bundle needs to come out and apart.
