Morning all ........ or at least it is here in Englandshire. I was just enjoying an early breakfast of roast beef and London fog all washed down with a bottle of tea luvva duck me old china and stairs when I thought I'd send you all in the colonies a patronising message to keep up the stirling work, and well done all of you and no mistake.

My name is Badpenny and I have been known to turn up occasionally.
I first started collecting slot machines at the age of 17 that was when I was young and good looking, that was nearly 40 years ago which means I am now just good looking.

It's interesting how the grass is greener on the other side, for I have always had a leaning towards American three reelers whilst I know of at least one of your current members who is quite an expert on English "end of the pier penny slots". I realise that anonymity is a keyword on forums so I can not identify him, so to this end I shall just call him George (that is not his real name of course as he's really called John T Peterson)

Well I'm now going to sit down and read my way through all of the postings on this thread after which I shall walk my bulldog to Stratford upon Avon to get him a new bowler hat.

It is always nice hearing folks from around the world.

Feel free to post any pictures or stories that you think we would enjoy.

I am curious as to how easy it is to find US machines over in Europe.

There are probably just as many US machines knocking around Europe as all the other nationalities put together.

I'd imagine that is primarily due to the amount of American military bases that existed until fairly recently as well as the changes in the law in UK (60's)regarding gambling which made slots legal. At this point 3 reelers in the guise of Sega/Mills & Jennings took the lead as well as German post war imports that only had a legal life of three years in their home country suddenly needed a new home.


In UK our own industry comprised very much of the Allwin (ball bearing travelling around a track) type machine which have always held their values.


What has surprised me is the amount of Trade Stimulators that can be found in England as anything that small over here is going to be pinched, even if it is nailed down!
