Replacement lock question for a mills machine...

I want to replace the standard locks with those round key locks, the ones your likely to find on arcade machines and some soda machines. Well, here's the thing... I've been doing some looking and I can't seem to locate the right type of this lock that will fit / secure right to both the back door and the cash box door. So I ask, if you have experience with these locks please reply here or message me with what I need to get the right locks.

I would, if possible, prefer that both locks untilize the same key.

Oh, the one that I guess is tripping this up for me and I'll use the cashbox door as an example but the one thing thats tripping me up is the one piece construction of the current lock I have in that it has an attached plate which is what screws it to the "door". From what I have found it's called a drawer lock. Anyway, thx in advance for any help provided.

The circular design locks that you are probably referring to are generically known as 'Ace' locks, they are seen on more modern vending machines and on some late slots (most notably Jennings). Their key resembles a short tube with cannelations on the bottom rim to access the tumblers.

Ace locks are the wrong period, style, and fit for a Mills High Top. The correct Mills locks that fit the back door and the coin box door are readily available, both original and repros. Think long and hard about replacing a correct slot lock with an incorrect pop machine lock.

The Mills locks with the serpentine groove cut into the face of the key instead of the edge are great from a security point of view, Mills boasted that there were 60,000 different keying possibilities for these.

I know theyre the weong lock for mills but thats what I want to put on my machine. Just a matter of finding the right one that will attach right and latch right.

Be sure to save the original locks with the machine; one of these days, you may pass it on to someone who appreciates the collector value of the machine and will definately want the original parts.

I appreciate the value of original parts myself, I just want to replace my locks but aside form that my machine is / will be 99% original when I'm done working on it.

Sorry if I did not word my comment well; did not mean to imply you might not know the collector value of original parts. I have several machines with their original parts in the cash box due to being cracked/broken/lock needs key, etc; but, unfortunately, I also have a box of parts that I have long since forgoten what they are, let alone what machine they came off of. If I don't keep the item with the machine or mark it clearly when I'm working on the machine, time has a way of turning the item into a mystery part on the shelf.

So has anyone had any success with these locks ?

My concerin is getting them at the right length so the latch and what not lines up right as well as making sure they fit and don't slip loose over time since they don't attach in the conventional sense that the mills locks do with those 4 pegs / screws.
